Revelry by Kandi Steiner Cover Reveal

Date: April 3rd

Genre: Contemporary Romance

Revelry Cover_FINAL

Revelry, an all-new standalone from Kandi Steiner is now LIVE!!!

From the bestselling author of Weightless and A Love Letter to Whiskey

Wren Ballard is trying to find herself.
She never expected to be divorced at twenty-seven, but now that the court date has passed, it’s official. The paperwork is final. Her feelings on it aren’t.
Spending the summer in a small mountain town outside Seattle is exactly what she needs. The peaceful scenery is a given, the cat with the croaky meow is a surprise, but the real kicker? A broody neighbor with nice arms, a strange reputation, and absolutely no interest in her.
Anderson Black is perfectly fine being lost.
He doesn’t care about the town’s new resident — he’s too busy fighting his own demons. But when he’s brought face to face with Wren, he can see her still-fresh wounds from a mile away. What he doesn’t see coming is his need to know who put them there — or his desperation to mend them.
Sometimes getting lost is the way to find yourself. Sometimes healing only adds a new scar. And sometimes the last place you expected to be is exactly where you find home.

Excerpt:

I had just grabbed my oversized hat and slipped my sunglasses on when I spotted Anderson walking up the drive with a large trash bag slung over his shoulder. He wore a simple, black V-neck and distressed jeans, an outfit way too dark and hot for the heat. A light sheen of sweat gathered on his neck as he made his way toward my cabin, his eyes hidden behind all-black sunglasses. "Change your mind?" I asked, not even fighting the grin on my face as I walked outside and leaned against the banister. Anderson squinted up at me, his boots heavy as they hit each stair. "About?" "Tubing?" I asked. That was why he was here, right? "Oh." He shook his head as he hit the top stair, shrugging the bag off his shoulders to hold it by the neck in one fist. "No, I have somewhere to be..." His voice trailed off, and even through the tinted shades of his glasses I felt his eyes on my chest. I'd strapped on my favorite boho print bathing suit and paired it with a dainty gold chain that wrapped around my neck once before dipping between my chest and crossing over my ribs. He sniffed, holding the bag out toward me. "I just came to drop these off. My clothes. Well, the ones that could probably use a little TLC." My eyes lit up and I reached for the bag, but Anderson snatched it back, brows shooting up into his forehead. "No frills, Wren." I threw my hands up in surrender. "I promise." He smirked, just slightly, and handed the bag over, tucking his hands in his front pockets. "Are you sure you don't want to come?" I asked, peering into the bag at my project before setting it just inside the cabin and locking the door behind me. "I can't," he said, lips pressed together. He was tense, the muscles on his forearms tight as he glanced around at pretty much everything but me. I opened my mouth to ask why but was cut off by the sound of a truck flying into my drive, tires sliding against the gravel. Tucker was in the driver's seat with Davie in the passenger. Sarah and Yvette sat in the back, laughing with their hands up as the truck skidded to a stop. They were both sprawled out on a pile of tubes, wearing bathing suit tops and tiny shorts. All of their faces froze when they saw Anderson. "Hey, you ready, Wren?" Tucker asked warily, his eyes moving from where Anderson stood in front of me, to me, and back again. "Yeah, one sec!" I called back. I turned to Anderson, but his eyes were hard on Tucker, jaw ticking under his skin. When he faced me once more, an anchor fell from my throat into the pit of my stomach, immobilizing me completely. Because even though I 'd tried to convince myself I was wrong, I recognized the look in his eyes. Possession. And when his nose flared and he took one big step toward me, our chests brushing, his hand reaching out to rest almost imperceptibly on my hip, the anchor in my stomach exploded into flames, burning a desire so fierce I inhaled a toxic breath and didn't let it go. "Be careful, okay?" His eyes locked on mine just before he leaned in and swiftly kissed my cheek. He turned on his heel and jogged down the stairs and past the truck. Sarah called his name, but he didn't acknowledge her, just kept his gaze forward until he'd disappeared from view. And then everyone looked at me.

KandiSteinerAuthorPicKandi Steiner is a Creative Writing and Advertising/Public Relations graduate from the University of Central Florida living in Tampa. Kandi works full time as a social media specialist but also works part time as a Zumba fitness instructor and blackjack dealer. Kandi started writing back in the 4th grade after reading the first Harry Potter installment. In 6th grade, she wrote and edited her own newspaper and distributed to her classmates. Eventually, the principal caught on and the newspaper was quickly halted, though Kandi tried fighting for her “freedom of press.” She took particular interest in writing romance after college, as she has always been a die hard hopeless romantic (like most girls brought up on Disney movies). When Kandi isn’t working or writing, you can find her reading books of all kinds, talking with her extremely vocal cat, and spending time with her friends and family. She enjoys beach days, movie marathons, live music, craft beer and sweet wine – not necessarily in that order.

FINDING LOVE IN A LIBRARY || BY YOUR SIDE BY KASIE WEST

By Your Side
Author:
Kasie West
Publication Date:
January 31, 2016
Format:
E-Book
Pages:
346 Pages

Being a fan of Kasie West's previous books I jumped when I heard she was going to write another book. Give me a book about books and honey I'm a goner.

Characters

Autumn runs into the library to use the restroom and realizes that she has been locked inside the library for the entire weekend. She learns that she's not alone and is stuck with Dax Miller a guy she hardly talks to. With the whole weekend in front of them, Autumn learns about herself and Dax too.

I really was invested in Autumn's character and how people with anxiety have to deal with everyday life and events and what can trigger it. She cared more about her friends' opinions than her own at first. But her lock in with Dax has helped her to express her feelings to them about her anxiety. I didn't like her friends because I felt like they didn't care about her. I really enjoyed her slow burn, swoony, but slow burn from friendship to relationship.

Dax is the last person Autumn wants to be stuck in the library. Dax is an air of mystery and rumors that he doesn't care to listen to or correct. He was very standoffish at first toward Autumn, but soon was warming up to Autumn.

He was a great fit by teaching her to express her feelings to her friends rather than just going with it. He pushed her as much as she pushed him and I loved that about them. Dax wasn't expecting to fall for Autumn and thought Autumn wasn't good enough for him. Gawd, this beautiful boy!

Final Rating:

I think is probably #2 on my favorite Kasie West books that I've read.

When was the last time you did a MadLibs? I remember buying the book at my local store and wanting to fill it in with my friends. So Mel, Alexa, Cee and Kirsten has came up with a little mad libs for use to use my imagination.

Once upon a time, in a far away headquarters (1), there lived a smart spy (2). It lived alone in a consignment store (3), where she had grown up with the deceased owner. She had beautiful hands(4), and she was known for her shiny red watch (5), the only thing she had left of her parents.

Alas, the Princess (6) of the country became jealous and wanted to own this watch (7). So, she became a wanted person and had to flee into the forest to find a place to hide. After trolling (8) around for hours, hungry and tired, she stumbled upon a cave (9). An old lady appeared, offering her shelter from the bitter cold.  She looked at her with sadness (10) and said: "I will protect you, but I need your help first. Years ago I lost something precious and I want it back. You need to climb into the sky and get my piano (11) back. Here is a magical cake (12), throw it into the earth, sprinkle with water and it will sprout a beanstalk. You have 15 (13) days to return before the stalk withers."

She followed the instructions given to her, and lo and behold, a beanstalk grew and grew and grew all the way up to the clouds. After an exhausting climb, she saw a huge mansion (14). She walked to the door and knocked. A whiny (15) voice said: 'Fee-fi-fo-fum, who dares to come and enter my house?" She was not afraid and said: "My name is Jamie and I've come to collect an item."

The door made a whooshing (16) sound when it opened and revealed a large veranda (17) filled with golden gadgets (18).  She stepped inside and walked towards the spiraling staircase, where a figure moved, cloaked in darkness.

"Who are you? Step in to the light, so I can see your face."
The beast growled angry. "Why did you come here? I just want to be left alone." Still, she moved and stood in front of it. There were three horns on his head, and hair all over his face and his mouth was filled with large teeth. He wore a baggy black hooded jacket (19)
"What happened to you?" She reached out to touch one of the horns, but the beast flinched. "Many years ago I was cursed by a witch. I have one year left to spy (20) so I can break the spell, but I'm not brave enough."

"If you give me the piano (21), I will help you."

In keeping its promise, the beast and she worked for a few hours and that afternoon, the beast transformed into an ordinary older guy. "I can't wait to return to my job as a waiter (22) in the normal world. Can I come with you?" Together they climbed down the beanstalk, carrying the instrument for the old lady. The moment she saw the guy and her beloved instrument, she started to weep.
"My husband, you have returned!" They hugged and looked at it.

"We have to tell you something," the old lady said. "You are our child. We were separated after the curse, but now we are reunited!" From that day, the three of them lived together in the forest, happily ever after.
