Disclaimer: This book contains a villain pretending to be a hero, a hero pretending to be a villain, a disco-dancing heroine, two overprotective sidekicks, a little bit of bad language, and a whole lot of swoony kissing.

Spirit committee leader Mandy Pennington is secretly in love with her best friend, Gus, but when he hooks up with her archenemy at a party, she decides to win him over once and for all. She just doesn’t know how. But who better to help than hot loner Caleb Torrs?

Caleb’s got his own problems, but when he sees Mandy pining over Gus at a party, he thinks she’s finally smoked the spirit stick and lost her mind. Maybe he has, too, because he just asked Mandy to be his fake girlfriend. She’ll get her loser friend’s attention, and he’ll get his stalker ex off his back. It’s a win-win.

But soon one fake date blends into the next and before he knows it, he actually wants to kiss Mandy. For real. Too bad their plan is working, and Gus is finally noticing the one girl Caleb just might be falling for…

My Thoughts:

When two polar opposites like Sandy & Danny from Grease style, (but instead of 50's think the disco era-the 70's) get together in a fake relationship things get real. Also, stay tuned for a giveaway to win some awesome prizes.

Aww, Mandy was so adorkably cute! I loved her hippie style that was different, but SO her. Learning even more about Mandy and her quirks; I loved reading about her ADHD as well as learning about what dysgraphia is. Knowing is better than being ignorant and I love how much the author wrote it beautifully. So Mandy wants to make her  childhood crush Gus jealous so that he'll ask her out and despite her friend's warnings she still goes after him.

Caleb a guy she really couldn't care less about proposes since he has a crazy ex to get rid of and she wants Gus' attention then they should fake date. Ugh, Gus was just a complete tool and jerk and almost too late did Mandy figure this out. I loved Mandy's best friends Cammie & J.T. who were the best friends who supported and also told her what she didn't want to hear. #TrueFriends I was laughing when her Gran started making Caleb blush. That scene was just priceless.

Caleb: As Mandy would call him TDB (read the book to find out what it means) *wink* has no idea why he proposed to fake date someone he'd rather stay away from. I loved Caleb because I knew that sarcastic, brooding guy was a soft teddy bear underneath who wants to be a writer. Caleb realizes his feelings especially when he pretending to be a hero and trying to reveal the villain and it was so wonderful to see Caleb realize that he could be Mandy's hero and was along. Their 'fake' relationship is swoon-worthy and filled with so many adorable moments.

Final Thoughts:

I loved the cultural references of Power Rangers (I didn't watch it), Sky High (which the book was inspired of & I haven't seen in years) as well as the other references that I pretty adored and spun into nostalgia. The lollipop of characterization sucked me in and I hope to see these other characters in some

Final Rating:

About the Author:

Lisa Brown Roberts still hasn't recovered from the teenage trauma of nearly tweezing off both eyebrows and having to pencil them in for an entire school year. This and other angst-filled memories inspire her to write YA books about navigating life's painful and funny dramas, and falling in love along the way.

Her almost forever home is Colorado, though she occasionally pines for the days when she lived within walking distance of the Pacific Ocean. Her house is full of books, boys, four-legged prima donnas, and lots of laughter.
